  • The concept of brand ambassadors dates back to Ancient Rome, where public figures were appointed to endorse products and services. These ambassadors were called "persona designata," and their role was to promote goods through word-of-mouth recommendations.


  • In the 1940s, commercials for cigarettes were banned from being shown on television. In response, tobacco companies turned to sponsoring television programs instead. This marked the beginning of product placement in media, a marketing strategy that is still widely used today.
